Well I’m happy to say I lost my last chest tube this morning! So happy to see it go, but kind of weird not having to pack all those tubes and drains around now. Tomorrow morning at 11 am I will be able to take a shower! This might be my longest shower ever! Ha ha.

Had two X-rays to check on my air pocket. Each time the measurements have gone down. That is terrific news, just what we wanted to hear! The thoracic teams feels it’s small enough in size we don’t need a drain placed and it will subside on its own. Will have one more X-ray tomorrow morning and if the measurements are still small we should be on the home stretch on being discharged!

Physical therapy came by this afternoon, got to work with a really nice PTA. He asked me “now that you have new lungs, what would you like to do again?” My response was to of course go shopping and be able to snowboard again! He said “okay change of plans!” Next thing I know we were walking towards the elevators, going up several floors to the physical therapy gym. We worked on several different balancing activities and also several walking activities. We spent over an hour in the gym! Felt great to be able to move around not tied to an oxygen tank, but most of all to be mobile for an hour and NOT get short of breath! Such an unbelievable experience!

I was able to walk 15 laps today without using the walker or any other device today! Just my own two feet! Feels amazing! Tomorrow my goal is to walk a mile without using a walker or any other device! It’s amazing how much stronger I feel each day. Tomorrow will be another strong day!

My fellow CF’er Jay Starr is back out of the OR and recovering. He can still use all the prayers right now! He’s a fighter!

Well time to take med’s and check my blood sugar one more time. Better get that done! Hope everyone had a great Thursday!

Until next time………..

Glad everything is getting better. Hope you get out of the hospital soon. I really hate being in the hospital. Well take care and maybe you can have a wheelchair race since you don’t have anymore chest tubes in.

We are happy to hear all of the good news. Spent your lungaversary at the OSU game against Utah. Sure wish they were shooting better. They were doing so well defensively, they could have won had more shots gone down. We are impressed with her determination to gain strength. Two weeks, new lungs, and walking a mile. You, young lady, are doing better at that than I am. Back up to OSU tomorrow to attend the Colorado game. Hope they have a better night. Maybe they should take a play out of your book on determination to succeed?
