Loving this cooler weather today! Being cooped up the couple of days the dogs and I were ready to get out. Early this morning I loaded up the dogs and we headed down to my dads shop to surprise him. Well, little did we know we were the ones being surprised. He wasn’t even there, he had to go to Riddle to pick up a saw. So the dogs and I just hung out for awhile until he got back. We walked several laps around the truck yard at Sprinter trucking. I also had to make what felt like a million phone calls, not really. Now that we are home, the luau is over with and things have completely settled down. I needed to make appointments with my dentist, eye doctor, dermatologist, my CF doctors in Portland, University of Washington and a few others. I have to head back to Seattle the 29th of this month for clinic. I was also supposed to see Dr. Wright (endocrinologist) but for some reason my appointment got canceled. Might be a little tricky to reschedule this appointment. Hoping we can get it taken care of while we are up in Seattle fingers crossed!

Anyways back to our adventure at the shop. Once my dad finally arrived back at his shop, we both pulled up chairs outside sat and visited for quite awhile. Was such nice just to sit and visit the two of us. Although Callie wouldn’t leave her “Grandpaw” alone she just had to be in his lap every chance she got. It was pretty funny! Maui would rather wonder around the side yard with her ball in her mouth. Once in a while she will let you throw it but not too often. After awhile pasted my dad and I headed down to Pyrenees Winery we left a few things behind on Sunday that we needed to pick up. So we did that and visited with Eric for a little while, those people are so nice out there! After we finished up there my dad treated me to lunch at Johnny’s. Nothing like a good ole bun-less avocado burger! Sure hit the spot! Although the entire time we were eating we had a chocolate and a yellow lab watching every move me made! Of course they got a few french fries. They enjoyed that! After lunch we went back down to the shop for a little while longer. The dogs ran around while my dad and I did a few things at the shop. After about an hour or so he needed to get to work, so the dogs and I headed back home.

Once we arrived home I think we were all tired. I unloaded the dishwasher, put a load of laundry away and then sat down on the couch. I think I’m still trying to play catch up from this weekend, I’ve been taking my afternoon naps! That’s okay extra rest never hurt anyone!

I got asked a great question the other day and I thought I would share it with you guys. I was asked “growing up who was your hero?” Man that is a tough question to answer! I looked up to a lot of people! Not only did I look up to my fellow racers, my parents, meeting Dan Marino and even other fellow CF fighters, I would have to say I really truly looked up to a lady named Cristen Powell. Back in the late 1997 Cristian Powell was a 17 year old from Portland, Oregon who drove Top Fuel Dragster. She was known as the “World’s Fastest Teenager” She was sponsored by Royal Purple, then followed by Reebok. She skipped her senior prom to win English-town. We both were members of Team Safety here in Oregon (when I raced Jr. Dragsters and she raced Top Fuel). We traveled around the state of Oregon talking to youth about drinking and driving. I got a chance to sit down with her and talk to her for just a few minutes. I was on cloud nine the entire time. For someone to take time out of their busy schedule to talk to me answer any questions I had, I was beyond ecstatic! She was the most down to earth, easy going, easy to talk to person I had ever met! I wanted to grow up and be just like her, follow in her foot steps. Well not so sure about driving a Top Alcohol dragster, but driving a Top Fuel dragster??? You wouldn’t have to ask me twice! I still will never forget that day in Albany, when we got the chance to talk. That is a memory that will last a life time! Over the years when Cristen stepped away from racing, we lost contact. The last time I heard she was living in Boston working as a social worker and managing a homeless shelter. Way to go Cristen! That is so awesome! Would love to see her make a come back in NHRA! Maybe one day our paths will cross again.

Today has been a great day for this girl. Just taking it easy and loving life! These new breathers are sure awesome! Well it is time to take my nightly meds, do my nightly routine and watch Deadliest Catch from last night. Hope everyone had a great Wednesday!

Until next time……..
