BRING ON THE WORLD!
For those of who don’t know, Jen and I actually started off our relationship as rivals on our childhood softball teams (Winston vs. Green in 5th grade)! Although our relationship started out this way, Jen and I have been friends ever since I transferred to the Winston School District. So this puts Jen and I as BFF’s since we were 14 years old. Ever since I’ve known Jen I have never looked at her as any different than anyone else! I’ve never let her disease define her as a person and I’ve always stood patiently by her side as she has fought this battle.
Now that you have some background info, I hope you can understand how much I’ve enjoyed the time her and I have spent together over the last 3 days in Seattle. When Jen and I get together we always have so much to see, and so much to do. We keep going until we literally… just drop. Jen had a rehab appointment this morning and after she was finished we decided she worked so hard at rehab some ice cream was a requirement. I think we loaded it with every topping possible. Jen’s ice cream was loaded with sprinkles as usual. We also walked around to some shops, but I think the highlight of the day was the Mariners game. We got all decked out in Mariner gear and did our hair and makeup. It reminds me of high school days getting ready together. Although the Mariners lost, the game was a blast.
This last 3 days has flown by and it amazes me how much we have walked, talked, and experienced in Seattle. The thing I have always admired about Jen is she isn’t afraid to try something new and she really lives each day to the fullest which is an important lesson for all of us to learn. So as Jen and I continue into a new phase of our relationship (post-transplant), what I’ve realized on this trip is I have my best friend back and we have so much to experience and more lessons to learn (which may or may not involve trouble along the way ;P). So my motto for her post-transplant phase is “Bring on the World”. There isn’t anything is this world that Jen and I won’t miss out on and I am looking forward to many more years of our friendship.
Signing off………
