What a great day! Filled with love, family, laughter and lots of memories! As everyone knows it is Graffiti weekend here in Douglas County, and I was beyond stoked! I didn’t get to partake in the festivities last year, although I did get to go downtown for a little while last year. With dragging PITA along and get tired easy I didn’t last very long. So being healthy and not dragging PITA around I was more than ready to have some fun!
We started the day off by going out to the Show ’N’ Show out at River Forks. We loaded up the ’41 and my dad told me I was driving! Oh baby!!! Love driving that car! We met up with the rest of the family out at the car show. My grandma’s ’36 ford pickup was out there, along with my Uncle Bill’s three cars. It was a family affair! We sat around talking for a little while, but I was itching to go check out the cars. Of course, I had my camera on me and I was ready to test my skills. Well what little skills I have! Ha! The rat roads caught my eye! Oh god, I think rat rods are the coolest thing around! Only because they are unique, you get to customize it, you pick and choose what goes on the car. The best part is there isn’t another rat road around exactly like it! Pretty sure I was drooling and my jaw was on the floor. Oh man! Saw a rat rod who had skulls in the headlights, and antique crystal doorknobs for doorhandles and the inside was all leopard print! I could go on for hours about the rat rods! Of course I took photo’s and I will post them below.
Any car that had a “hat” or blower on it had my full on attention. Of course, I had to wonder over and check them out. As I was looking the drag racer in me comes out, big time! I just kept thinking to myself “oh man, wonder what she would turn in a quarter mile!” Great looking cars; Nova’s, Malibu’s, Mustangs, and many more!
My dad has turned me on to Chip Foos wheels, you can spot them a mile away. Not only does he make some amazing cars, he can create some amazing hot rod wheels. I found a set of Chip Foos wheels and I was like a kid in the candy store! I’m sure people thought I was a nut case or something, I just kept taking picture after picture of just the wheels. Next to it was a sleek black ’68 Riviera with chrome wheels, BEAUTIFUL!
There were some amazing cars at the Show ’n’ Shine. From rat rods to ’69 cobras. Each and every car is unique! Our ’41 got lots of looks! It was fun to show her off, ad talk about her. Even though the inside is no where near finished, but the outside is looking beautiful and she sounds beautiful thanks to WSK Machine and my dad! I might have opened her up just a little tonight! 🙂
After we finished at the Show ’N’ Shine my moms side of the family met up at her house. My Uncle Bill and Aunt D stopped by in the ’36 as well! So fun to have them join us! Of course we all talked for awhile, but it was time to go cruising! First we had to pay $5 to registrar the ’41, my dad made the first lap with me. Tons of people out! Next up my mom wanted to go. She had a giant bag of candy to toss to the kids. We made several laps before having to head back to the house, because the car was getting a little warm, she needed to cool down! Perfect timing I was craving a Dr. Pepper like no other! First one of the day I might add! After the cars cooled down it was time for another lap! My Aunt Pat and Uncle Don have a ’46 and it definitely has some power! My Uncle Don took my dad for a spin so my Aunt Pat hopped in with me and away we went! Plus she still had candy to hand out as well. Her and I shared some great laughs as we were cruising. Pretty sure we said hello to every person there! Ah good times!
Today has been filled with so much fun, I could keep going! But I won’t bore you any longer, plus it has been a busy day and I am pooped. But I will say one more thing before I go. I totally owe this day to my donor! If it was’t for this person saving my life, I wouldn’t have been here today to enjoy it with my family! A million times over Thank You! Time for this girl to hit the hay! Off on another adventure tomorrow! Should be a good time! Of course, I will have my camera with me!
Hope everyone had a great Saturday! I definitely know I did!
Until next time……..
