First of all, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! Hopefully everyone had a wonderful day being with the ones we love the most!
My day started out on the crazy side. For some reason I got a massive nose bleed today. Ended up having the paramedics come out, they couldn’t get it to stop, so off to the ER we went. It bled constantly for two hours straight. With a flip of a switch it stopped. It was the most bizarre thing! I will follow up with my doctor tomorrow, and see what we can do! I was more concerned with being in a room filled with sick people than I was my nose bleed. I couldn’t have my oxygen cannula in my nose so I had in my mouth. My nose covered in tissues and then trying to wear a mask on top of that. I’m sure I looked pretty comical, but hey I wasn’t taken any chances!
Kerry got me one of the coolest gifts ever! I got a new pair of Nike shoes. But they aren’t your ordinary shoes. These shoes were designed by a 15 year old girl living with Cystic Fibrosis. Every year, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital picks several patients who are fighting various diseases to design a shoe with Nike. Nike assembles the shoes, sells them, and then 100% of the proceeds goes right back to Doernbecher’s. So it’s a great cause! Inscribed on each shoe is “Fight Like A Girl” and “Just Breathe”. Which those mottos I tell myself daily.
My mom prepared a delicious Christmas dinner. I ate way too much! But it was all with it. I don’t know if I was more excited to be surrounded by my family, or to have a home cooked meal! It most definitely beats hospital food hands down!
Reflecting back on this past year, my health has declined significantly. But I keep reminding myself I have two choices everyday, be here or not be here. I would much rather be here! So I’m going to pick up my boxing gloves and fight! It’s moments like these being with my family reminds me of why I fight so hard. I am truly surrounded by love. Love not only from my family but some pretty amazing friends as well. I am extremely grateful for everyone in my life.
Well I just finished the last session of my vest for the evening. My bed is calling my name. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
Until next time……
Jen
My daughter never stops to amaze me. She had a nose bleed that wouldn’t stop, had paramedics to her house and then went to ER for almost 2 hours and was worried she messed up Christmas plans for Kerry and others. She then had Christmas with Kerry and her two furry kids, then Christmas with Kerry’s family. She made it to my house, exchanged gifts did therapy and fell fast asleep. Kerry, Greg and I enjoyed a bottle of wine (ok, two bottles) fixed dinner and finally woke her up. She is pale, wore out, but does not want to miss anything. Never complains or feels sorry for herself, truly the strongest person ever. I love her so much.
I love you more than you’ll ever know mom!
