Good evening!
Day 9: well I am starting to feel a little bit better. My chest is still bugging me, but it doesn’t feel like an elephant is sitting on me anymore, so we are going in the right direction. My medications were switched up a little bit today. The doc added Zyvox and took me off of the Teflaro. Still doing the Meropenem and Tobra. Hopefully this works and I get out of here. My white blood cell count came down yesterday to 19. Still elevated though. One positive from being sick is I’m holding steady at 131lbs! Of course, it’s three meals a day and 4 cans of tube feed at night (yummy)
I received a very interesting call today from Ms. Pinkerton, the principal at McGovern Elementary in Winston. She wanted me to FaceTime for some reason, so I accepted. Turns out the school was in the middle of their monthly assembly to honor students of the month and my picture was being broadcast up on the wall! I guess I should have showered earlier:). Anyway, three students at McGovern decided that they wanted to help me out and they organized a school fundraiser. Makenna Anderson, Amy Dickover, and Layla Martin organized the event. Kerry said that the entire school is plastered with pictures of me and my story. The kids made shirts that people ended up wanting to buy. Hopefully we can get a picture of the shirts up on the website soon. If anyone took pictures from today, please email me at justbreathejendwight@gmail.com.
Ms. Pinkerton started sharing that kids were turning in their weekly allowance to help raise money. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The kids then presented Kerry with a donation of $517.75. Way Cool! It was very emotional too!
I went for two walks today and got to see my dogs for a while too! Therapy is over for now. Time to get some grub. Chicken tacos from Del Taco. Not sure why, but I love those things for some reason.
Until next time…..
