Well it’s Monday night again! Two weeks ago I thought I was prepping for an early morning sinus surgery, boy was I wrong! Today has been another very productive day. I managed to race around (okay not really race around yet) but walked 15 laps today, almost a mile! 18 laps around the unit makes a mile. Tomorrows goal! Not sure I can remember the last time I walked for “fun” was!

So happy I can say this, I lost TWO chest tubes today! Two more to go, half way home! I’ve been asked several times today, “what’s it like to have a tube removed from your chest?” Trust me it isn’t pleasant! OUCH! But hey if I can breathe easy then let’s do it! The thoracic team will reevaluate the the last two chest tubes tomorrow and see what they say.

Still having a hard time believing I can be completely flat in a bed and NOT cough. But believe me it’s true!! Such an unbelievable experience! I am still using oxygen and I think it’s more of a security blanket than anything. I’m down to 1L of oxygen and my sats are holding great at 95-96%. Physical therapy should be by tomorrow and we will work on turning it off. It’s more mental than anything else. I will get there!

My dad flew home yesterday, the saws are stacking up at his shop. I know he’s putting in long hours to get caught back up, so he can be back up here in no time. My mom was able to spend the majority of the day with me, was nice to have some girl time! Sorry Kerry ha ha! No Kerry was able to go back to the hotel get a run in followed by some homework. Which I know he needed to do. I’m missing my four legged furry children like crazy! I know they are in good hands with Aunt D.

Well it’s been a long productive day, night time med’s are down the hatch and it’s time to get some shut eye. My legs are still swelling like crazy so time to get them propped up!

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

Until next time………

Great to have you back Jen, your progress has been amazing. You are the talk of Winston, everywhere I go and all of the people I talk to want to know how you are doing. Medical science is amazing but it takes someone with your “will to fight” to make it all possible. Great job, and we look forward to keeping up with the blog and seeing you and Kerry soon:)
